Notes#

AMS-TeX/amsmath root-index nudge, recorded in base following MathJax MoveRoot. MathJax only accepts it inside a root index (the optional degree of \sqrt or the degree of \root ... \of) and turns the integer into mpadded voffset/height. Corpus drops the command and its integer argument globally, including misplaced uses that MathJax would reject, so the eliminated-form contract can own cmd:uproot. Do not encode the offset back into LaTeX. Pixel mismatch on the in-root example is expected: the index content and reading order stay, only placement changes.
